Deep Squeeze
Organic particles rain from the sunlit surface as marine snow. At abyssal depths (4,000–6,000 m), hydrostatic pressure exceeds 600 atmospheres — physically compressing soft organic matter and squeezing out dissolved nutrients that would otherwise stay locked inside.
