Electron Lighthouse
University of Michigan physicists aimed two laser pulses — 800 nm and 400 nm — at a GaAs semiconductor and steered a beam of electrons like a lighthouse, with no electrical field required. Quantum interference between the two absorption pathways enhances current in one direction while cancelling it in all others. Phys. Rev. Lett., July 16, 2026.
